If you’re like me, now that summer has arrived, you’re looking for an excuse to get outside and do something active. In this video, we’re going to learn how to make a Tiki torch for our backyards using some recycled bottles.
Since I have wine bottles and some beer bottles lying around, I am ready to give this DIY project a shot. Are you ready?
The first step is to finish off your glass bottles. Make sure they’re empty. Bottoms up!
Get two grounding clamps, a ¼ inch threaded rod, a roll of Teflon tape, a ½ inch copper coupler and cap, a replacement torch wick, and the glass bottle.
Cut your threading rod to fit your location. Attach a grounding clamp to your fence or other sturdy object in your yard. Screw the threaded rod into the grounding clamp. Then on the other end, screw on the other grounding clamp.
Use the clamp to hold the bottle in place. Since the ½ copper coupler is too small for the bottle opening, wrap enough Teflon tape around it so it’ll fit and remain watertight.
Fill the bottle with torch fluid and thread the wick through the coupler. Now just light your DIY tiki torch. When you’re not using it, place the cap on top to prevent water from getting inside.
Are you ready to spice up your backyard?
